We have over 40 years experience in teaching consisting of theory and syllabus techniques as well as current trends brought to us by west end performers. We base our teaching on learning correct techniques but build in the fun element giving invaluable experience and expertise. Pupils get a good foundation which will give them confidence and determination they will use in other activities they pursue.
Christine Wheatley FIDTA (Fellow of the International Dance Teachers Association) is a major examiner and lecturer for the IDTA. In 1967 she opened the school, (then called 'The Wheatley School of Dancing'), a part-time stage school which in 2007 celebrated it's 40th Anniversary. Christine has produced, directed & choreographed in excess of 40 shows and has successfully entered students for over 6000 examinations, including many for teaching qualifications.
Christine has trained many students who have pursued professional stage careers the most famous being Priscilla Samuels who is one of the top commercial choreographers in the industry. Christine is the principal of 'the london stage school' and is known to the pupils as Miss Ann.
Casey has recently graduated from leading drama school Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts completing a masters degree in Musical Theatre where she gained much experience in both the techniques of singing and drama and extensive training in performance. Casey has been performing since age eleven, taking on many lead roles such as Maureen in Rent, Josephina in When Midnight Strikes, Alex in Witches of Eastwick and most recently Poncia in Bernarda Alba.
During her many years on the stage and her intensive training, Casey understands the importance of collaborating all the skills in drama, singing and dance to create a full and complete performance. Casey brings leading techniques in drama and singing to the children, improving both technical skills and confidence in performance.
Carrie Beattie AIDTA (Associate of the International Dance Teachers Association) graduated at the school over a year ago. As part of Carrie's extensive training on a two year, full time performers course, she underwent teacher training and decided this was where her passion lies. Carrie joined the teaching team and continues her intense training to further her qualifications.
Carrie teachers Ballet and Jazz and has been given the opportunity to choreograph routines for the yearly shows. She has a real passion and enthusiasm for dance and loves teaching children, watching them grow in confidence as performers.
Kerrie Shand is working towards her pre-associate exams in all subjects and has been dancing in the school since the age of three. Kerrie has taken part in numerous shows and has progressed from preparatory grades through to pre-associate level gaining excellent examination marks throughout.
Kerrie has been assisting with classes for over four years gaining a wealth of experience under the mentorship of Miss Ann. Kerrie enjoys teaching children of all ages and abilities and has that special talent required with teaching young children, she brings youth and energy to the teaching within the school.
